Do you feel difficult to manage your team? Are you born to be a leader?

  1. Have you ever felt burnt out by the fact that you are unable to be in pace with your team?
  2. You feel, it is unnecessary to get to know about others?
  3. You are a detailed oriented person and you don’t what to know how your contributions are taken holistically or by the higher ups?

Then, this post is especially for you!

If you are a newly designated manager who have all these shades of thoughts lingering around every time, probably it is worthwhile to recheck on your priorities if you are in the right role — scanning your past endeavors and failures.

There are two thought processes to it.

One is — I want to be a good leader but this isn’t working out.

Second is — I am not in for leadership roles and happy to be an individual contributor. (not afraid of others’ growth) and not being feared of missed out (FOMO)

If you belong to the first group: follow this simple technique.

  • Your perspective towards your work should be evolved from your previous roles (an individual contributor) to leadership roles.
  • To do so, one eminent technique is to follow imitation rule
  • Get in touch with your senior leaders (who have instilled their faith/experimenting with you if you have the right skills or not for leadership roles) frequently.
  • Understand their responses to each and every situation and assimilate it inside your brain.
  • Do a self assessment and how you would differently or similarly use your leadership skills to the same situation.

If you belong to the second group:

  • You should revisit your decisions and thought processes on why you are here in this role.
  • Did you get into leadership roles just as a promotion, or for money?

RETHINK!!

  • Talk to your senior leaders if this is a momentary thinking that you feel low on your leadership role or does this experience occurs to everyone who had been in their first time leadership journey.
  • This will essentially instill positivity in you if someone encourages you and take things going.
  • If you still feel, this is not a write way of going further in your career. You must start taking steps to go to wherever you are comfortable and satisfied.
